Census Records The information provided below should help you locate your ancestors if they were in the Palo Pinto County area. As more census records become available, I will link to them. Meanwhile you can access them by microfilm at some local libraries, LDS libraries, and the regional national archives. Most libraries can order them as an interlibrary loan if they have a microfilm machine. 1820 - The area later called Palo Pinto County is in Spanish Texas 1830 - The area later called Palo Pinto County is in Mexican Texas 1840 - The area later called Palo Pinto County is in Republic of Texas. Part of it is in Robertson County, part in Bexar County, and part in Milam County. The Republic of Texas did not take a national census however its yearly county tax lists can provide a partial substitute. 1850 - The first United States Census had about half of the area later called Palo Pinto County is in Navarro County, with the other half in Milam County. 1850 Navarro

It included a small portion which later became Erath County.
